This portal contains data from a wide variety of sources. This means that the data have different access constraints and conditions of use. Where possible, data are provided using the UK’s Open Government Licence (https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/open-government-licence/version/3/) for public sector information. This allows free use of the data for any purpose, but stipulates that use of the data must be acknowledged.

For data held within the UK Polar Data Centre, links to the relevant metadata records are provided where possible. These provide information about the use and citation of datasets, and in many cases include a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) which links to the data.

For data originating from the Government of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands (GSGSSI), permission is needed before these data are used in other products such as publications or reports. Please contact dof@gov.gs for permission.

Fisheries derived data are shown in an aggregated form, and access to the original data may be subject to additional data access rules.
